This year’s edition of the “Slovo Gorčina” cultural festival in 2024 promises to be a truly artistic experience that transcends the usual boundaries of cultural events in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A special highlight is the spectacular intermedia music performance that will open the festival and is created by the composer Belma Bešlić-Gál.
Medulin // At the Cemetery site in the village of Vrpolje, in the area of Ljubomir, near Trebinje, there is a necropolis with eighteen stećci (four slabs, thirteen chest tombs, and one cross-shaped tombstone) among which six examples feature relief decorations and two bear Cyrillic inscriptions. The idea of doing good for the sake of it reflects the underlying conviction that each small act of kindness reverberates across the eons and shapes the structure of the whole system, of which we ultimately know nothing about. In such acts we can find a place of refuge, knowing that our small contributions, however seemingly insignificant, can contribute to a greater good.
